TEHRAN, May 15 (MNA) – Iran’s Defense Minister Dehghan called for a balanced approach to expansion of defense relations with other countries while retaining national military authority.

Brig. Gen. Hossein Dehghan made the remark on Sunday at an annual gathering of the Iranian ambassadors in Tehran under the slogan of “JCPOA and Resistance Economy: Opportunities and Capacities”, adding “the nuclear deal has created a special opportunity for Iran in the region, given the policies of malevolent figures in the US and their allies.”

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is faced with a special situation in which power-hungry countries adopt a policy of domination and chaos to impose injustice and discrimination against independent nations,” he said.

Dehghan went on to add, “Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran has always adopted wise policies according to a cooperation model based on constructive, sincere and transparent interaction with other countries.”

Brig. Gen. Dehghan highlighted the need for more coordination and cooperation between the Defense Ministry and Foreign Ministry, adding “we hope to expand cooperation between Iran’s Defense Ministry with various countries in Europe, Africa, Asia and Central Asia under the favorable conditions of post-JCPOA.”
